CASA Volunteers to participate in an in-depth training on human trafficking led by Kimberly Hill of the Indiana State Police
We are excited to share that our child advocates will have the opportunity to participate in an in-depth training on human trafficking led by Kimberly Hill of the Indiana State Police.
This important partnership was facilitated by our Program Manager, Michelle Zimmermann, whose ongoing efforts continue to strengthen the quality and relevance of training available to our advocates.
Kimberly Hill has served as a Motor Carrier Inspector with the Indiana State Police for 30 years. Throughout her distinguished career, she has been afforded many meaningful opportunities, but she considers the most impactful to be her work teaching and speaking on the critical issue of human trafficking. In 2010, a pivotal moment in her professional journey occurred when members of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division training team met with a trooper serving as an FBI liaison on a human trafficking task force. That encounter helped shape a lasting commitment to this work—one that continues to guide her service today.
Kimberly remains deeply engaged in prevention and education efforts and currently serves in a leadership role within the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s Human Trafficking Prevention Program. Her dedication to this mission is rooted in a desire to raise awareness, strengthen prevention efforts, and support those working on the front lines of child and community advocacy.
The upcoming presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of human trafficking, including its scope and the vulnerabilities traffickers continue to exploit. Participants will gain insight into common misconceptions, as well as the methods traffickers use to groom, coerce, and recruit victims. The training will also highlight key indicators of both sex and labor trafficking, with particular attention to the growing risks youth face in online and digital spaces.
In addition, attendees will be equipped with practical guidance on how to recognize, respond to, and report suspected trafficking. The presentation will emphasize the importance of continued vigilance and proactive response, and will provide information on the use of national and state hotlines and other trusted resources for prevention and intervention.
This training represents an important opportunity to strengthen knowledge, awareness, and preparedness among child advocates working to protect vulnerable children and families in our community.
